Paulina Beggs

Year Started: 2003

Paulina is a second year graduate student. She received her B.A. in philosophy from Mills College, Oakland, CA and her M.A. from Arizona State with a thesis on the phenomenon of innocence and its inevitable loss. She is interested in moral philosophy, moral emotions, virtue ethics, history of ethics, feminism as well as such questions as: What is the difference between being innocent and being naive? What is moral imagination? She also loves classical music, novels, the theater and discussions about the arts: Does good art teach us about truth?

M.A. Thesis:

  • "Betrayed by One's Own Inner Nature: Lost Innocence and Social Knowledge"

Work in progress:

  1. "Belief in the External World in Hume: A Diagnosis of Irony"
  2. "Trust, Emotions and the Interpretation of Evidence"
